On December 31st, Jizhong Energy released the tender announcement for the survey and mapping of the integrated demonstration project of photovoltaic storage, hydrogen and ammonia in Hutubi County, Xinjiang:

The chemical plant of this project has an annual production capacity of 57,000 tons of green hydrogen and 320,000 tons of green ammonia. The total annual green electricity supply from the upstream power generation facilities of the chemical plant is 3.4 billion kilowatt-hours. According to the energy demand of the chemical plant, this project is equipped with 2.5GW of photovoltaic power generation, with an average annual power generation of 3.4 billion kilowatt-hours over 25 years, which can meet the electricity demand of the hydrogen production plant. In addition, according to the policy of Hutubi County, 2.3GW of photovoltaic power generation will be built and fully connected to the grid.
The total investment of this project is 20 billion yuan. The total land area of the factory is 623.01 mu, with a photovoltaic land area of 130,000 mu. The main construction includes photovoltaic + energy storage, production of supporting photovoltaic modules, and green hydrogen to green ammonia. Now, the chemical industry sector has basically met the requirements for construction in the early stage and is expected to be completed and put into production by the end of 2025.
The Hutubi County Photovoltaic Energy Storage Hydrogen-ammonia project is the second green ammonia project laid out by Jizhong Energy.
On July 1, 2024, the first green ammonia project of Jizhong New Energy - the synthetic green ammonia construction project of the integrated demonstration project of wind, solar, storage, hydrogen and ammonia in Siziwang Banner, Inner Mongolia - was launched in the Duerbote Chemical Industry Park.

The project is implemented in two parts: integrated wind and solar hydrogen production and green ammonia synthesis, with a total investment of 18.9 billion yuan.
This project is located in the Duerbote Chemical Industry Park of Siziwang Banner, Inner Mongolia. Relying on the natural wind and solar resource advantages of Siziwang Banner, it aims to build a new energy industrial system integrating power generation, consumption, energy storage and application. The project is implemented in two parts: integrated wind and solar hydrogen production and green ammonia synthesis. Among them, the integrated wind and solar hydrogen production project will build 1.25 million kilowatts of wind power and 1.15 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power, and use ALK alkaline liquid water electrolysis technology for hydrogen production. It is equipped with 160 sets of 1200Nm3/h electrolytic cells, 40 sets of gas-liquid treatment, 20 sets of purification devices, 10 sets of make-up water and alkali injection facilities, and 36 sets of 2000m³ (1.4MPa) low-pressure spherical tanks. Nitrogen is produced by separating air with cryogenic technology to meet the nitrogen gas volume and purity requirements of the ammonia synthesis section. The investment in the green ammonia synthesis project is 1.8 billion yuan. The project is constructed in three phases and adopts advanced domestic ammonia synthesis technology. It uses green electricity generated from the upstream wind farm as energy, and is equipped with an electrolytic water hydrogen production device to produce hydrogen and a corresponding air separation unit to produce nitrogen. Then, the hydrogen and nitrogen are synthesized into green ammonia, with an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons.
